The World Telecommunication Day 2007, dedicated youth

Every year, Spain will celebrate the Day May 17th World Telecommunication and Information Society, which in this edition will focus on youth under the slogan Connecting the Young: the opportunities of ICT ( technologies of information and communication ) and whose objective is that of awareness of the importance of integrating young people into the information society.

precisely, and making the celebration of this day and its commitment to youth, has announced that the ITU (International Telecommunication Union) launch a campaign in collaboration with Her Royal Highness Sheikha Al-Qatar Mayassa for the granting of 250 scholarships and internships for young people 1000 by 2010.

The World Telecommunication Day is celebrated on 17 May each year, when we commemorate the founding of ITU and the signing of the first International Telegraph Convention in 1865. In November 2005, the World Summit on the Information Society asked the General Assembly of the United Nations to declare May 17 as World Day of the Information Society, to promote the importance of ICT and the various issues related to the Information Society. Finally, in March 2006 the General Assembly adopted a resolution accepting the petition.
